In high school, I was involved in a number of organizations and activities that focused on serving the community in a variety of ways, including 4-H, National Honor Society, Service Learning, and Ruriteen. Ruritan is a national organization that strives to make communities a better place to live and work. Ruriteen groups are developed in schools and the community for individuals up to age 19.

My Ruriteen advisor introduced me to the ten most powerful two-letter words in the English Language: If It Is To Be, It Is Up To Me! Our group adopted this as our mantra during my junior year and worked hard to reflect it in our community.
Those words, along with a favorite quote of mine, are the inspiration for this blog.
